Tumut Valley Violets and Garden Cafe is nestled amongst the hills of the picturesque Tumut Valley and is a small business with a difference; it is not often that people are fortunate enough to be able to develop a passionate hobby into a thriving business, including mail order Australia wide.  

Proprietors, Peter & Tuija Kostiainen, welcome visitors to share their 'little piece of paradise'.  Enjoy the scenic drive through the idyllic dairy pastures and over the beautiful Tumut River to the Violet Farm, only 6km from Tumut P.O.

Tumut Valley Violets has been established for over 20 years and is literally the happy result of a hobby that simply 'grew out of hand'.

The stockroom at Tumut Valley Violets now boasts over 1200 different registered named varieties of African Violet, and quality is the trademark of the of the Valley Violet Wick-Watering System and the beautiful plants produced.  

The long standing and excellent reputation of the business, Australia wide, is testament to the fact that African Violets are simple to grow and maintain; once you establish the right conditions.

The Valley Violet Wick-Watering System provides the ideal growing conditions for African Violets and other Gesneriads, and plants grown under this system will reward you with beautiful blooms all year round. 

All the requisites for Valley Violet Wick-Watering System system are available by mail order, as are fresh leaf cuttings from our myriad of varieties in the Stockroom. 

Stunning ceramics, crafted especially for the Valley Violet wick-watering system, are also available by mail order; to complement your most beautiful bloomers.

Delicious Devonshire Teas are served in the Garden Cafe; featuring Peter's Prize Winning Scones and our very own Old English Blood Plum Jam.

Groups and Coach Tours are welcome for our demonstration and tour, and  delicious lunches or Devonshire Teas are available for groups by booking.

There is something for everyone at Tumut Valley Violets and visitors can marvel at the magnificent chainsaw carvings crafted by Finnish artist, Erkki Joutjarvi in 1996, namely; "Finn the  Bear", "Old Man Emu" and "Cuddly Koala" - nestled in the eves of a Scandinavian style outdoor Grill-House.
